Statement of community involvement
We adopted the current statement (SCI) part 1 on 28 July 2016. We adopted part 2 on 1 August 2018.
About the SCI
The statement part 1 sets out how we will involve
- local communities
- businesses
- important stakeholders
When preparing:
- the local plan
- future development plan documents (DPD’s)
- supplementary planning documents (SPD’s)
Darlington Council adopted its first SCI in November 2005. We reviewed it in July 2010.
We carried out a second review following the introduction of the:
- localism act 2011
- national planning policy framework (NPPF)
- amendments to the town and country planning (local development) (England) regulations in 2012
Part 1 supersedes the SCI where it relates to Local Plans. The rest of the SCI 2010 relating to development management, remains extant.
