Street champions

Street champions are residents who use some of their free time to look after their local environment. This can be the street they live on, their local park, green space or the town centre.

The Street Champions scheme was created to help provide support and equipment to residents and volunteers to help keep Darlington tidy.

When you register to become a Street Champion you will be provided with the equipment to carry out the task. The pack includes a litter picker, hoop, gloves and orange bags.

We can provide children’s litter pickers, hi-vis vests as well as graffiti removal wipes upon request.

As you travel around Darlington you might have noticed the orange bags left next to litter bins and wondered who has left them there. They are left there by our dedicated Street Champions for Street Scene to collect.

You are able to leave the orange bags next to your household waste wheelie bin on collection day.

For larger items dumped or fly tipped please contact Street Scene, so they can be removed by telephone 01325 405111 or email [email protected].

Equipment can be collected from the Clock Tower Lodge in South Park by appointment (weekdays 9am-3pm). Or delivery can be arranged to your address.
