Current Restrictions

Help keep Darlington Safe by;

MEETING OTHERS
There are no limits on meeting others, indoors our outdoors, but meeting outdoors is recommended. If you cannot meet outdoors, open windows at regular intervals so fresh air can circulate.
BARS, PUBS AND RESTAURANTS
Open. No limits indoors or outdoors and no face coverings required.
RETAIL
All retail (essential and non-essential) can open. There is no longer a legal requirement to wear a face covering. The government suggests that you continue to wear a face covering in crowded and enclosed spaces.
WORK AND BUSINESS
The government is no longer asking people to work from home. People should now talk to their employers to agree arrangements to return to the office.
EDUCATION
Schools, colleges and universities are fully open. Regular testing is provided for secondary school and college students. Face coverings are no longer be advised for staff and pupils in secondary school and college classrooms.
LEISURE AND SPORTING FACILITIES
Indoor and outdoor sporting facilities can open, including gyms, indoor group classes, tennis courts and swimming pools.
ACCOMMODATION
All holiday accommodation is open, including hotels and B&Bs.
PERSONAL CARE
Open. There is no longer a legal requirement to wear a face covering. The government suggests that you continue to wear a face covering in enclosed spaces where you may come into contact with other people you do not normally meet.
OVERNIGHT STAYS
All overnight stays are allowed.
WEDDINGS AND FUNERALS
Weddings and civil partnerships can take place with no limit on guests in a COVID secure venue. No limit on funeral attendees. There is no longer a legal requirement to wear a face covering.
ENTERTAINMENT
Events, including outdoor and indoor attractions are open, including museums and galleries. There is no longer a legal requirement to wear a face covering. The government suggests that you continue to wear a face covering indoors
PLACES OF WORSHIP
Open. No limit on attendees.
TRAVELLING
International travel is now allowed, with restrictions in place. Check the government website before you travel. The rules will change again on February 11 for both vaccinated and unvaccinated travellers - check Govt guidance before travel
EXERCISE
Gyms and leisure facilities are open. You can exercise outdoors and indoors.
CLINICALLY EXTREMELY VULNERABLE
The clinically extremely vulnerable are no longer advised to shield as of 1 April 2021, but are advised to continue taking extra precautions such as keeping social interaction low and shopping at quieter times of the day.
CARE HOME VISITS
Care home residents will be able to nominate individuals for regular indoor visits (following a rapid lateral flow test result) and can have 'low risk' visits outside of the residential home.
