Medication Awareness
This half-day course will give delegates a basic understanding of medication & an opportunity to discuss possible situations. This course is knowledge based & provides a starting point for staff who are involved with supporting with medication. Objectives:
- identify relevant legislation in relation to medication
- explain what covert medication is
- list the different forms & routes of medication
- discuss how medications are obtained
- identify role in supporting with medication
- examine possible medication errors & reasons why these may occur
- define correct storage & disposal of medicines.
The training is for DBC staff only
It will be held on Wednesday 27 September 2023 from 1.30-4.30pm at the Coleridge Centre.

Coercive Control Virtual Conference
Durham County Council are proud to be a White Ribbon Accredited organisation.
To mark ‘White Ribbon’ day 2023 they will be holding a ‘Spotlight on Coercive Control' Virtual Conference on Monday 27 November 2023 from 9.30-5.00pm
Coercive Control is the most common & highest risk form of domestic abuse & a subject area that all professionals working with public should be aware of.
This conference will provide great insight into this important issue as well as the impact this form of abuse has on children from speakers with lived experience.

Darlington Safeguarding Partnership
The DSP has recently appointed a new Training & Development Officer meaning new Safeguarding training dates are now available.
The Partnership are now offering training for both children & adult safeguarding from introductory level through to advanced courses for safeguarding leads & managers. There will be sessions around child exploitation & some new ‘Need To Know’ sessions on a range of safeguarding topics coming soon. They will be regularly adding new courses & dates so please remember to check online if you are seeking any training or resources through the Partnership. There will a choice of online training & some face-to-face training as well as a range of both morning & afternoon sessions in order to accommodate all requirements.
In addition to taught courses & sessions you will find a range of resources on their website that are regularly updated covering a range of safeguarding topics. If you are seeking resources or information on a particular topic that is not covered in their offer, please do not hesitate to contact them & they may be able to support by signposting to appropriate materials.
