Rose Rouse has been offered the position of Chief Executive of Darlington Borough Council.

Rose, who is currently Chief Executive of Pendle Borough Council, in Lancashire, was the successful candidate in a recent recruitment exercise.

Her appointment is subject to a confirmation vote at a Special Council meeting on Thursday (19 December). Papers for Thursday's meeting are available to read here.

Councillor Stephen Harker, Leader of Darlington Borough Council, said: “Rose brings with her a wealth of experience and a strong track record of leadership. We are confident that her vision and expertise will greatly benefit the council and the communities we serve.”

Further details of Rose’s appointment, including start date, will follow in due course. The new chief executive will replace Ian Williams, who is due to retire in early 2025.
