Get involved in Women of the World festival
21 January 2025

WOW - Women of the World is partnering with S&DR200, as part of a nationwide festival celebrating 200 years of train travel, to present WOW North East - the first WOW festival in the region.

Taking place on 17 and 18 October, WOW North East wil incliude talks and performances, celebrating achievements and stories from people from the region and beyond. Following in the footsteps of WOW Festivals that have taken place around the world in 45 locations, there'll be a special programme for local schools followed by a day-long WOW Festival on Saturday 18 October, featuring big ideas from incredible women and fun for all the family.

Ahead of the festival, WOW will be hosting a series of WOW Think Ins this February to meet local communities across the region and hear their thoughts on what should be part of the first WOW North East Festival.

WOW Think Ins are informal events open to everyone in the local area to give them a chance to have their say on what their WOW Festival should be about. They will discuss what ideas can be developed into the programme and what are the most relevant topics for residents.

Everyone is welcome to have their say. There’s no need to prepare anything, and there’s no pressure to talk if you’d rather listen. WOW Think In sessions are open to all ages and all genders

Book your free place online.

WOW North East Think Ins will take place at:

3 Feb, 2pm and 6pm, Tyneside Cinema, Newcastle
4 Feb, 10am, Gala Durham
4 Feb, 1.30pm and 5.30pm, ARC Stockton
5 Feb, 12pm, Shildon Railway Institute
5 Feb, 5pm, Darlington Library, Crown Street.
