Hazard
The product presents a serious chemical risk as the yellow-coloured slime contains excess concentrations of boron. The sample was found to contain 719 ± 137 mg/kg of boron, which exceeds the maximum permissible concentration of 300 mg/kg. Digestion or contact with an excessive quantity of boron may harm the health of children by damaging their reproductive system.

Additionally, the plastic 'lolly' accessory contains Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) at a level greater than 1.0 ± 0.08%. This exceeds the specified maximum limit of 0.1% by mass of the plasticised material, as the sum of the four phthalates. Phthalates may harm the health of children, possibly causing damage to the reproductive system. A required marking was found to be missing from the toy itself.

The product does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011 or the REACH Regulations 2008.

Corrective action
The import has been rejected at the border and destroyed.
