The following notice has been issued by the Office for Product Safety and Standards.

Black e-bike batteries fitted to some Canyon E-performance bikes (M091, M124, M129)

Canyon e-bike battery 

Hazard
The product presents a high risk of fire as it has been identified that the battery may have damaged housing. The cracks or gaps in the battery housing may allow water ingress, leading to it short circuiting and causing a fire.

The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.

Corrective action
The product has been recalled from end users.

Canyon is stopping all sales of the Affected Products and sending a notification directly to consumer via contact details to stop-use of the product immediately and inspect the battery housing for potential damage.

Canton will provide for disposal of the battery through its service network or else direct the consumer to dispose in compliance with local legal requirements. Owners should not dispose of lithium-ion batteries in normal household waste. For further information on household waste, including on local sites accepting lithium-ion batteries for safe disposal, see 'Dispose of household waste' on the GOV.UK website.

Where relevant, a replacement battery will be provided.
