Affected serial numbers and sales period
Affected units were sold between 2021 and 2023 and generally have a serial number starting 1FE-8FE. The 14-digit serial number can be found on the base on the unit. 2024 Yoto Minis are unaffected by the battery issue and do not require a battery replacement kit

Hazard
It has been identified that a small number of Yoto Minis contained a battery that overheated when at a high state of charge, posing a potential burn or fire hazard.

The product does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.

Corrective action
Consumers were initially contacted about this matter in April 2024, where affected consumers were offered a free replacement smart charging cable. Please see the original Product Safety Report for further details.

Yoto are now undertaking further corrective action, offering consumers who purchased a Yoto Mini between 2021 and 2023 a free replacement battery to further mitigate the potential fire risk.

Owners should not dispose of lithium-ion batteries in normal household waste. Further information on household waste, including on local sites accepting lithium-ion batteries for safe disposal, can be found on the GOV.UK website.
