Exercise after stroke group

Have you suffered from a stroke or know someone who has?

Healthy Darlington runs an Exercise after Stroke rehabilitation programme based at Eastbourne Sports Complex.

Each session consists of group based exercises taken by our Level 4 Exercise and Fitness Training after Stroke Instructors, exercises are tailored to the individuals taking part.

The programme can be accessed by referral from a medical professional such as general practitioner or physiotherapist.

Hourly sessions currently run

Wednesday:

  • 2pm - 3pm and
  • 3pm - 4pm

Sessions cost £3. Access to the facilities at these times is strictly for people attending the Exercise after Stroke programme and free parking is available on site.

Darlington Harriers

Darlington Harriers provides opportunities for young people between the ages of 8 and 17 years to receive coaching and take part in competitions in all aspects of Track and Field athletics and Cross Country running.

All coaching is by qualified coaches who are screened and trained to work with young people.

The club has a very healthy senior section for both men and women that takes part in competition both on the roads and fells and over the country, at local and National Level as well as having members on regional and national representative teams.

Training

Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm - 8pm, with a session for under 11 athletes on Thursday evenings.

Senior members train on the same nights from 6:15pm.

Darlington Football Club 

Darlington Football Club uses Eastbourne Sports Complex to train Tuesday and Thursday nights.

The training sessions take place on the 3G and people are more than welcome to come and watch.

Darlington Youth Football Club

Darlington Youth Football Club have teams ranging from Under 5 to Under 18, both male and female.

Teams train and play on site at Eastbourne.

Training takes place Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights in season and matches on Saturday and Sundays.

Eastbourne Pre-School

Eastbourne Pre-school [external link] are a local pre-school based with the Eastbourne area of Darlington for more than 20 years.

They are based within Eastbourne Sports Complex and have the exclusive use of the large secure garden area alongside our playroom.

They are a 'Messy Nursery' who firmly believe that children learn through play, which will include Mud, Sand, Water, Paint, Glue and Paint and more on an daily basis.

They offer places for the new 30 Hours Funded Places for 3 and 4 year olds and for the 2 Year Old Early Education, for eligible families; as well the Universal Funded places for 3 and 4 year old (both 15 free hours per week).

They welcome fee paying families, who may be able to claim part of the fees back through the Childcare Element of Working Families Tax Credits.

They will help parents organise any paperwork required for any funded place and also accept childcare vouchers.

They use a large new nursery room created to help develop self-care skills.

It will incorporate direct access to the garden space enabling free-flow between the indoors and outdoors by the children.

Bowling Green

The bowling green is located in a peaceful and picturesque setting surrounded by well maintained flower borders, adjacent is the community pavilion, complete with sun canopy and patio area – perfect for summer afternoons.

The bowling season runs from April to September, when it is mainly used by Hundens Green Association; however, the bowling green is available for casual use to non club members.

Martin Gray Football Academy

Martin Gray Football Academy [external link] has been set up to operate at a very high standard.

The coaches all come from a football background with many being ex-professional Premier League footballers themselves.

Martin has a wealth of experience in coaching, managing and playing football and holds the highest accreditation of coaching; the UEFA Pro Licence.

The Academy aim to provide professional football coaching and a successful education and learning programme of support by working in partnership with the Martin Gray Football Academy, which promotes an ethos of social and personal development and achievement in children.

Sessions run Monday - Friday 9am - 3pm.

Middleton Rangers Junior Football Club

Middleton Rangers Junior Football Club [external link] was founded in 2003 and is a rapidly growing Charter Standard Community Club and Nike partner club.

The Club has grown from strength to strength through its committed volunteers and provides football to all with boys teams from under-7s to under-16s, several girls teams and a disability group.

The adults team at the club is performing strongly and we have a mini Rangers program for those too young to play in a league (so as long as you can kick a ball you are welcome).

We are delighted to welcome people of all ages and ability's into the world of football

Quakers Running Club

Quakers Running Club [external link] has developed a reputation as being one of the friendliest running clubs in the North-East of England.

Whether you just want to start running for the sake of fitness, or are about to do your first 10k race or 25th Marathon, we can help you achieve your goals.

We actively encourage non-members to come along see what Quakers has to offer, no charge is made for attending these sessions and no one is under any obligation to join, our hope is that you will enjoy training with us, will keep returning and will eventually become a member of the club.

Training: Track session first Monday of every month, 7pm - 8pm at Eastbourne Sports Complex.

Quakers Running Club actively encourage non-members to go along to see what the club has to offer from their base at Abbey Road Playing Fields on a Tuesday and Thursday evening 6:30pm - 7:45pm.
